Osaka, Japan

I fell in love with Japan the moment I landed in Tokyo last year, 2015.  I told myself that I would love to explore more of this country again and again.  Here I am in the Japanese land, exactly a year after where sushi tastes like heaven.

Osaka a large commercial center which is known for its modern architecture, hearty street food and boisterous nightlife.

In general, locals in Osaka are very friendly people.  A Japanese guy approached me while I was in the train from Kansai Airport to the City.  He asked me where I came from and after hearing that I am from Philippines, he congratulated me for having a new President.  He said he had watched the Philippine news.  I found them more helpful than the ones in Tokyo as Edokko people are always in a hurry.  I apologize for this statement but this is just my observation and opinion.

Osaka Castle is surrounded by impressive stone walls and moats which will make you wonder how were they able to build it years ago.  The moats are 70 to 90 meters in width and the number of stone walls are more than 20 meters in height. The castle is surrounded by Nishinomaru Garden with more than 500 cherry trees.  Although we didn't make it again to the cherry blossom but it doesn't mean I love the scenery a little less..  This is one of Osaka's most popular hanami spot during cherry blossom season.

Dotonbori is the City's most famous entertainment district which offers wide selection of shops and abundant in street food and restaurant choices.  This is my favorite stop.

Osaka is known to be the nation's kitchen.  I had tried Pablo cheesecake to okonomiyaki, yakisoba, sushi, takoyaki and a whole lot more.  I know I gained a lot of weight from eating whatever I see on the streets.

Japanese vending machines are like convenient stores wherein you can buy and eat anything.  You will never get hungry while in Japan.  One of the vending machine which intrigued me is the ramen vending machines or the take out vending machines.  From my experience, nothing compares the taste of Ramen than in Osaka.

At night Dotonbori-dori to Shinsaibashi shopping arcade is a spectacular sight with the neon lights of large billboards and big TV screens.  It is totally overcrowded in the night full of tourists and locals.

Shinsaibashi is the largest shopping area in Osaka.  This is the perfect spot for strolling and shopping with its fully covered arcade.

Kuromon Ichiba Market a very popular area known by locals and now becomes very popular for tourists. They have all kinds os fresh seafoods and you can ask them to grill or cook according to your choice.  Eating inside the market is so much fun and it is very safe and clean.  This is a food lovers paradise.

Uni / sea urchin / toyom

The most delish apple I had tasted.

I can probably eat here from breakfast 'til dinner time.

Seafoods are very cheap and fresh that you will surely forget about your diet.

Japan will always be a part of my travel itinerary.  There is something about Japan that makes me feel sad whenever I have to leave.

Love,
M xo
